Climatic Diversity

South America's climate is generally warm, but varies enormously depending on the region. The Andes Range is the only area with constant cold temperatures due to its altitude. While the Amazon receives abundant rains, regions like the Atacama Desert face severe droughts.

The Weather in the Capital (Lima)

Peru has 28 of the 32 climate types in the world. In general it is temperate, which allows tourism all year round. Lima is characterized by warm summers (25°C) and humid, gray and cloudy winters (12°C - 15°C).

Weather by Natural Regions

The Coast

In the Tropical Coast the summer can exceed 29°C. Winter (June to September) is humid and with drizzle, around 14°C.

The Sierra

Cold and dry climate. Temperatures between 9°C and 18°C. The sun shines in the mornings, but nights can drop to 5°C.
Inter-Andean valleys: Temperate all year round.

The Jungle

Tropical, warm and humid climate. Average temperature of 25°C to 28°C. Abundant rainfall feeds the Amazonian flora.
