Nevado Quitaraju

Quitaraju Mountain is a technical mountain with a height of 6036 m.a.s.l. located in the department of Ancash. Within the Huascaran National Park reserve, it has an altitude of 6,040 m a. s. l. It is located between the Santa Cruz mountain massif 6259 m.a.s.l. and Alpamayo mountain 5947 m.a.s.l. in the Cordillera Blanca, in the Peruvian Andes.

Day 01. Arrival in the city of Lima

Arrival in the city of Lima from the country of origin, same day transfer to the city of Huaraz and hotel

Day 02. Transfer from Huaraz to Cashapampa

Transfer from Huaraz 3,100 masl in private transport to Cashapampa 2,930 masl. Where we will meet the muleteer and the pack animals to transport the trekking equipment, and where we will also begin our walk. After paying the entrance fee of 10 nuevo soles per person charged by the town of Cashapampa for trail maintenance, we start walking the Santa Cruz ravine along the banks of the Yuracmayu River until reaching the Llamacoral camp 3,760 masl. The walk lasts 04 to 05 hours.

Day 03. Llamacoral to Base Camp

Llamacoral 3,760 masl. Base camp 4,250 masl. We continue the path through the Santa Cruz ravine, elevation gain from camp 490 m. On the way we will visit the lagoons: Jatuncocha and Ichiccocha. After visiting the lagoons we continue the path to base camp. The journey lasts 04 to 05 hours.

Day 04. Base camp to camp one

Base camp to camp one of Nevado Quitaraju 5,600 masl. The ascent lasts 06 to 07 hours.

Day 05. Quitaraju Summit

This day in the early hours 4:00 am. We will ascend guided by a UIAGM high mountain guide to reach the summit of Nevado Quitaraju 5,947 masl. After the summit return to camp one, the ascent takes 05 to 06 hours.

Day 06. Return to base camp

Return from camp one to base camp. It takes 05 to 06 hours.

Day 07. Return to Llamacoral

Return from base camp to Llamacoral 3,760 masl. 04 to 05 hours of walking.

Day 08. Return to Huaraz and Lima

We continue returning through the same valley to Cashapampa, where the transport waits for us for the transfer to the city of Huaraz and Hotel. Then, on the scheduled date and time of your return trip to Lima, we transfer from the hotel to the bus terminal, end of our service.

We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.

This reservation will cover the following:

Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.

National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
