Llamac - Nevado Leon Dormido - Cajatambo trekking and ascension

Arrival in the city of Lima from the country of origin, same day transfer to the city of Huaraz and hotel

Acclimatization trekking in the city of Huaraz, visit Churup lagoon 4,480 m.

Transfer from Huaraz to Chiquian Llamac 3,300 masl. From this place we will begin our hike to Matacancha 4,180 masl. Elevation gain from Llamac is 880 m. to Matacancha, hike 05 to 06 hours, where we will also meet the pack animals and muleteer.

Matacancha 4,180 masl. Mitucocha 4,230 masl. This day we cross the first pass of Cacanan Punta 4,700 masl. From camp we will climb an elevation gain of 520 m. up to the pass; after the pass Pucacocha and Yanacocha lagoons are observed, the hike lasts 04 to 05 hours to the camp next to Mitucocha lagoon. We will observe the peaks Ninashanca 5,607 masl., Rondoy 5,870 masl. and Jirishanca 6,094 masl.

Mitucocha 4,230 masl. Carhuacocha 4,280 masl. Where we cross the second pass Carhuac 4,650 masl. From camp 420 m. elevation gain; from the pass we will observe the north face of the peaks Carnicero 5,960 masl., Siula 6,344 masl., Yerupaja 6,634 masl. and El Toro. This day will take 05 to 06 hours to reach Carhuacocha camp with views of the mentioned peaks.

Carhuacocha 4,280 masl. Huayhuash 4,300 masl. This is the hardest day of the trek where we will walk 07 to 08 hours. The path leads us between the four lagoons to the lookout, where we will observe the four lagoons of various colors such as Siulacocha, Quesillococha Chico, Quesillococha Grande, and Azulcocha. From the lookout, in about an hour and a half, we arrive at the Siula pass 4,800 masl. where we will observe all the mentioned peaks. Descending from the pass we will see Carnicero 5,960 masl., Jurao 5,600 masl., and Trapecio 5,644 masl.

Huayhuash 4,300 masl. Nevado Leon Huacanan base camp 4,550 masl. This day we will move to the Leon Huacanan base camp, also crossing the Portachuelo pass 4,750 masl. Hike 04 to 05 hours.

Nevado Leon Dormido 5,427 masl. Viconga 4,430 masl. Early at 4:00 am, we will ascend to reach the summit of Nevado Leon Huacanan 5,427 masl. led by a mountain guide. After the summit, on the return, we will move from camp to the Viconga thermal springs, a 01-hour descent to enjoy the baths with an exquisite coca tea. The ascent lasts 10 to 11 hours.

Viconga 4,430 masl. Cajatambo 3,380 masl. Today the path leads us through the entire Pumarinri valley until reaching the San Cristobal pass 4,150 masl. After the pass we descend for one hour and twenty minutes, where we already feel the climate change of the 'Norte Chico' of Peru; we arrive at a guesthouse in Cajatambo to stay.

Cajatambo 3,380 masl. Pativilca 50 masl. At 5:30 am we will transfer from Cajatambo by public bus to Pativilca, then take a taxi to the city of Huaraz and hotel. Then, on the scheduled date and time of your return trip to Lima, we transfer from the hotel to the bus terminal, end of our service.
