Cotia Lagoon Trekking - Pequeño Alpamayo Base Camp - Huaynapotosí Base Camp - Cordillera Real
The Cotia Trekking is one of the most beautiful routes in the Cordillera Real, where you can observe the most famous mountain peaks of the Bolivian Andes. The trek starts from Cotia Lagoon, goes behind the Austria Peak, passes through the Pequeño Alpamayo base camp, and finishes at the Huaynapotosí mountain base camp.
Day 01. La Paz – Cotia Lagoon 3,800 masl.
Departure at 9:00 a.m. by private transport to Cotia Lagoon (3,800 masl). After lunch, we will walk for an hour and a half to the viewpoint to observe the beautiful views of the Cordillera Real. Then return to Cotia camp.
Day 02. Cotia – Ajuani 3,820 masl.
At 8:00 am, after breakfast, we begin the walk to the Contadora pass at 4,900 masl. After the pass, we descend to the Ajuani camp. The trek takes about 05 to 06 hours.
Day 03. Ajuani – Jurikota 3,780 masl.
At 8:00 am, after breakfast, we start the walk towards the Janchallani pass at 4,800 masl. After the pass, we descend to the Jurikota camp. The trek takes about 06 to 07 hours.
Day 04. Jurikota – Condoriri 4,650 masl.
At 8:00 am, after breakfast, we begin the walk to the Austria pass at 5,200 masl and ascend to Austria Peak at 5,350 masl. After the summit, we descend to the Pequeño Alpamayo base camp. The trek takes approximately 06 to 07 hours.
Day 05. Pequeño Alpamayo Base Camp - Maria Lloco 4,720 masl.
At 08:00 am, after breakfast, we start the walk to the Condoriri pass at 5,100 masl. After the pass, we descend to the MARIA LLOCO camp at 4,720 masl. The route offers beautiful views of Huayna Potosí and the Maria Lloco peak. The walk takes about 07 - 08 hours.
Day 06. Maria Lloco – Huayna Potosí Base Camp 4,680 masl.
At 08:00 am, after breakfast, we begin the walk to the Zongo pass at 5,100 masl. After the pass, we descend to the Huaynapotosí base camp. Here, the transport awaits to return to the La Paz city hotel. The trek takes about 06 to 07 hours.
Day 07. La Paz – El Alto Airport
Transfer from the hotel to El Alto airport. End of our services.

We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.
This reservation will cover the following:
- Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
- Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
- Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
- Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.
The remaining 60% will be paid in Huaraz after you have checked into your hotel. To begin the organization of your expeditions, please contact us for more information.
There are 02 rescue units in Huaraz
- National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
- Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
