Trekking and Ascent in Cordillera Real
Bolivia is a country in central South America, with a varied terrain ranging from the Andes, the Atacama Desert and the rainforest in the Amazon basin. At more than 3,500 m. high, its administrative capital, La Paz, is located on the Andean Altiplano with the snow-capped Mount Illimani in the background. Nearby is the crystalline Lake Titicaca, the largest on the continent, located between the borders with the beautiful countries of Peru and Chile.
The constitutional capital of Bolivia is the city of Sucre and the seat of government and/or administrative capital is the city of Nuestra Señora de La Paz, which administers the country. However, this has not always been the case; during the first years of the republic of Bolivia, the cities of La Paz and Chuquisaca (named Sucre since 1839) vied to be the capital of the highland country.
