Illampu Mountain 6,360 masl - Cordillera Real
Illampu mountain 6360 masl is located on the north side of the Cordillera Real. Illampu in Aymara native language means (Strong) and is considered the King of the mountains. Illampu is one of the most difficult mountains, both physically and technically. The route is climbed on snow and ice; after a hard climb, you reach the summit with spectacular views of the Cordillera Real, Lake Titicaca, the Apolobamba Range and to the east, a sea of Amazon clouds stretching towards the horizon.
Day 01. Arrival at El Alto airport – La Paz hotel.

Day 02. Tiahuanaco archaeological site tour
Tiahuanaco acclimatization day, return to La Paz Hotel.
Day 03. La Paz - Sorata 2800 masl
Departure at 9:00 am from La Paz in private transport to Sorata, a town located north of the Cordillera Real. Travel through the most attractive places of this warm area, in the valleys and on the slopes of Great Illampu. Night at the lodge.
Day 04. Sorata - Base Camp 4600 masl.
After breakfast, we will take our transport to the next part of the trip. A dirt road will help us gain altitude until reaching Lakatiya, the starting point for a hike that will take us along a path that is not very visible, which generally crosses humidity and fog. After 4 hours we will find ourselves in a valley known as "Aguas Calientes", which will be our base camp. (camp)
Day 05. Base Camp - Illampu High Camp 5,500 masl.
We will leave at 08:30 and begin the walk and part of the climb (3° - 4° difficulty). Four hours after the approach, we will set up our camp on the high ground of Illampu, which is also located on Schulze peak, in the hills. After that, we will have dinner and rest. Night of camping
Day 06. High Camp - Illampu Summit 6,360 masl - Illampu Base Camp 4,600 masl
We will start ascending at 1:00 am. A small plateau will make its appearance, after that, a lot of excitement and adventure await us with a first slope of 45° that leads us to a ridge. We will continue this route until facing a new slope, this time from 60° to 65°, which will finally lead us to the Summit. Magnificent would be the word to describe what can be observed from this point: the sunrise, the sea of clouds, and the majestic Lake Titicaca. We will descend by the same path towards the base camp. Day 07. Base Camp - Sorata - La Paz
The return will be by the same path to Lakatiya, from which we will continue walking down until reaching the place where transport waits to return to Sorata and then to La Paz.

We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.
This reservation will cover the following:
- Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
- Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
- Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
- Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.
The remaining 60% will be paid in Huaraz after you have checked into your hotel. To begin the organization of your expeditions, please contact us for more information.
There are 02 rescue units in Huaraz
- National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
- Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
