Cusco - Choquequirao Trekking

Day 01: Arrival in Lima and Cusco

Arrival in the city of Lima, Peru; same-day transfer to the city of Cusco and your hotel.

Day 02: Cusco - Cachorra

This day we will pick you up at 8:00 a.m. from your hotel in Cusco, heading to Cachorra where the muleteer and mules await us to transport the trekking equipment. It is a 6-hour journey by transport. On the way, we will visit the archaeological site of Tarawasi and the Saywiti stone (Inca model); later, we will arrive at the Saywiti pass at 3,790 m and descend via a dirt road to Cachorra where we will camp.

Day 03: Cachorra - Santa Rosa

This day we start at 7:00 am. Our hike covers 21 km, approximately 9 to 10 hours of walking. From this point, we can observe the snow-capped Pedrayoc at 5,482 m. Along the way, we will see a variety of wildlife. Then we reach the first viewpoint, Tinajayoc (2,800 m), followed by the second viewpoint, Cocamasana, then Torowisqana, Chiquisca, and finally Playa Rosalina where we will have lunch. We continue to the Santa Rosa camp at 2,100 m.

Day 04: Santa Rosa - Choquequirao

Today we start our hike at 7:30 am towards the archaeological site of Choquequirao, where we will have lunch and then explore this Inca City during the afternoon hours.

Day 05: Choquequirao - Chiquisqa

Very early this day, we will visit again to wait for the sunrise. Subsequently, we begin our return, arriving at Playa Rosalina for lunch, then continuing our walk to Chiquisqa where we will camp.

Day 06: Chiquisqa - Cachorra - Cusco

This day we start the hike at 6:00 am, spotting the Apurimac Canyon and the snow-capped Pedrayoc once more. After five hours, we arrive at the town of Cachorra for our final lunch, followed by our departure to the city of Cusco.

Booking Conditions

We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.

This reservation will cover the following:

  1. Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
  2. Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
  3. Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
  4. Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.

The remaining 60% will be paid in Huaraz after you have checked into your hotel. To begin the organization of your expeditions, please contact us for more information.

There are 02 rescue units in Huaraz
  1. National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
  2. Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
