Tourist Programs in Arequipa, Peru - South America
Arequipa is the colonial-era capital of the Arequipa region in Peru. It is surrounded by 3 volcanoes and features Baroque buildings constructed from sillar, a white volcanic stone. In its historic center lies the Plaza de Armas, an imposing main square, and to the north of it is the 17th-century neoclassical Basilica Cathedral. It houses a museum where works of art and religious objects are exhibited. This city is the starting point for all tourist activities. Below, we detail our tourist programs for the Arequipa region.
Day 01: Lima – Arequipa - Hotel
In Arequipa, we will wait for you at the airport or bus terminal and transfer you to the hotel.
Day 02: Full Day Culebrillas and Cerro Colorado – Arequipa – Hotel
At 8:30 am, pickup from your hotel for the Cerro Colorado district, led by an official tourism guide and tourist transport, where you can observe the processes of extraction, carving, and mega-carvings of sillar. Then the tour continues through the Culebrillas ravine to visit the petroglyphs; it is an experience that transports you back in time to an unknown past of our ancestral brothers who inhabited our White City. Return at 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm to the Arequipa hotel.
Day 03: Colca Canyon Tour – Arequipa – Hotel
At 4:00 am, pickup from your hotel for Chivay where breakfast is served, led by an official tourism guide and tourist transport. After breakfast, the tour continues visiting the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, then 50 minutes more in transport to reach the main viewpoint of the Colca Canyon. After enjoying the canyon, return to Arequipa visiting different local villages with many cultures and customs. Lunch in Sancayo. Return at 5:30 to 6:30 pm to Arequipa and hotel.
Day 04: Salinas Lagoon Tour – Arequipa – Hotel
At 8:00 am, pickup from your hotel for the Salinas lagoon led by an official tourism guide and tourist transport. The first stop will be at the volcano viewpoint in the Chiguata district. Then continue to the Yaretales of the Pichu Pichu volcano and the Salinas lagoon, enjoying the tour for about 2 hours. Return at 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm to the Arequipa hotel.
Day 05: Arequipa – Base Camp (4950 m) Chachani Volcano (6075 m)
At 7:00 am, we pick you up from your hotel in a 4x4 to head toward the starting point of the ascent to the morena camp at 4,950 m. Camping. The day's ascent takes about 3 to 4 hours. In the afternoon, dinner and rest for the next day.
Day 06: Base Camp - Chachani Volcano Summit (6075 m) – Arequipa - Hotel
At 3:00 am, the guided ascent begins with a local guide. The route leads through soil and sand to the summit of Chachani. Scarcely any snow can be found at the Chachani summit (6,075 m), arriving around 7:00 am to 8:00 am. From the summit, a spectacular view of the volcanoes Coropuna, Ampato, Hualca Hualca, Sabancaya (still active), Misti, Ubinas, and the city of Arequipa can be appreciated. After the summit, return to the 4x4 pickup point and transfer to the base camp of Misti Volcano at 4,600 m. Camping.
Day 07: Base Camp – Misti Volcano Summit (5822 m)
At 2:00 am, the guided ascent begins with a local guide. The route to the summit is all sand and soil, with barely any snow at the Misti summit (5,822 m). After the summit, return to base camp where the 4x4 waits for transfer to the city of Arequipa hotel. Return between 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm arriving in Arequipa - hotel.

Booking Conditions
We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.
This reservation will cover the following:
- Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
- Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
- Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
- Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.
The remaining 60% will be paid in Huaraz after you have checked into your hotel. To begin the organization of your expeditions, please contact us for more information.
There are 02 rescue units in Huaraz
- National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
- Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
