Day 01. Arrival in Lima, Peru (161m) – Huaraz (3,100m)

We will be waiting for you at Jorge Chávez Airport. We then transfer you to the public bus terminal for the approximately 8-hour journey to Huaraz. Upon arrival, we transfer you to your hotel. There is also the option to fly from Lima to Anta-Huaraz. Daily flights depart Lima at 7:30 AM and return at 9:15 AM. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, flights depart Lima at 11:15 AM and return at 1:15 PM.

Day 02. Free Day (Optional day tours in Huaraz)

This day is reserved for rest and altitude acclimatization before starting the Cordillera Huayhuash circuit.

Day 03. Transfer Huaraz (3,100m) - Cuartelwain (4,180m) - Mitucocha (4,230m)

At 4:00 AM, we pick you up from your hotel in private transport to Chiquian or Pocpa for breakfast. We then head to Cuartelwain (5 hours total), where our muleteers wait to load the gear. We begin the trek over Cacananpunta Pass (4,700m) to view Pucacocha Lake, Yanacocha, and the Queropalca Valley. We then descend to the Mitucocha camp (4,230m) with views of Ninashanca, Rondoy, Jirishanca Grande, and Jirishanca Chico.

Day 04. Mitucocha (4,230m) - Carhuacocha (4,280m)

After breakfast at 7:00 AM, we hike through the Jancapampa Valley and cross Carhuac Pass (4,650m). For well-acclimatized groups seeking adventure, we can take the alternative route to the Three Lakes viewpoint. After enjoying the vista, we descend to camp with stunning views of Carnicero, Siula, Yerupaja, and Toro mountains.

Day 05. Carhuacocha (4,280m) - Huayhuash (4,300m)

Breakfast at 6:00 AM for our most challenging day (approx. 8–9 hours). The trail leads between streams and lagoons to a viewpoint overlooking Siulacocha, Ganrajanca, and Azulcocha lakes. From there, we reach Siula Pass (4,800m) to observe the peaks of Carnicero, Jurao, Trapecio, and León Dormido before descending to Huayhuash camp.

Day 06. Huayhuash (4,350m) - Cuyocpampa (4,550m)

Breakfast at 7:00 AM. We begin a steady climb to Trapecio Pass (5,030m) with views of Cuyoc and Trapecio peaks above a turquoise lagoon. After descending to Cuyocpampa for lunch, weather permitting, we will hike up to the San Antonio viewpoint (5,120m) for sunset before returning to camp. This extra ascent adds approx. 4 hours.

Day 07. Cuyocpampa (4,550m) - Huayllapa (3,630m)

Early breakfast at 6:00 AM to catch the sunrise at Santa Rosa Pass (5,080m), offering an incredible view of the north face of the Huayhuash range. We then descend past Jurao Lake and through the Calinca Valley to the village of Huayllapa. Optional: Guesthouse stay available for charging batteries, warm showers, and Wi-Fi.

Day 08. Huayllapa (3,630m) - Gashpapampa (4,550m)

Breakfast at 7:00 AM, followed by a 1,170m ascent to Tapush Pass (4,800m). The trail is moderately steep. Descending from the pass, the famous Diablo Mudo peak (5,350m) is visible to the right. We reach Gashpapampa camp (Diablo Mudo base camp) in about one hour.

Day 09. Gashpapampa (4,550m) - Jahuacocha Lake (4,100m)

Penultimate trekking day. We begin at 6:30 AM with a short descent before climbing to Yaucha Pass (4,800m). We then head to the Huacrish viewpoint for a panorama of Jahuacocha and Solteracocha lakes and the most famous peaks of the range. We descend to Jahuacocha for our final night of camping.

Day 10. Jahuacocha (4,100m) - Llamac (3,300m)

On our final day, we depart early to avoid the heat on the descent. We cross a flat plain for 50 minutes, then follow an irrigation canal to Pampa Llamac Pass (3,900m). We descend to the village of Llamac, where our transport waits to transfer you to your hotel in Huaraz.

Day 11. Huaraz – Lima

30 minutes before your departure, we transfer you to the public bus terminal in Huaraz for the trip to your hotel in Lima.

Three hours before your flight, we transfer you from the hotel to the airport. End of our services.

Booking Conditions

We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.

This reservation will cover the following:

  1. Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
  2. Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
  3. Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
  4. Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.

There are 02 rescue units in Huaraz
  1. National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
  2. Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
