Climbing Chopicallqui Mountain 6354 Masl.
Chopicallqui mountain, with an altitude of 6,354 m a. s. l., is the fifth highest mountain in the Cordillera Blanca, Peru. In recent years, this mountain has become popular for reaching the summit via a route and peak that offers an impressive view of the entire Andean valley of Peru. Before ascending this mountain, good acclimation is recommended, specifically climbing a mountain of at least 5,000 masl to ensure proper adjustment.
Day 01. Huaraz (3100 m) – Chopicallqui Curve – Moraine Camp (4800 m)
At 6:00 am. We pick you up at your hotel to depart in private transport to the first stop for breakfast. After breakfast, we continue the journey to the Chopicallqui curve, and from here, we ascend to the moraine camp at 4800 m.a.s.l. Camp; the ascent takes between 6 to 7 hours.
Day 02. Moraine Camp (4800 masl) – High Camp (5480 masl)
After breakfast at the moraine camp at 9:00 am, the ascent begins with a one-hour walk to the moraine and 2 to 3 more hours on the glacier until reaching high camp at 5480 masl. Camp. The day's ascent takes about 4 to 5 hours. Then dinner to rest early for the following day.
Day 03. High Camp (5480 masl) – Chopicallqui Summit (6354 masl)
After having hot drinks and some cookies at 2:00 am, the ascent begins via the normal route to the summit of Chopicallqui mountain 6354 m.a.s.l. From the summit, we will enjoy a spectacular view of the Cordillera Blanca with the city of Huaraz in the background. After photos and videos at the summit, return to high camp to have hot soup to recover energy and continue descending to the moraine camp. The day's expedition takes between 14 to 15 hours. Dinner and rest for the last night on the mountain.
DAY 04. MORAINE CAMP (4800 MASL) – CURVE – HUARAZ (3100 MASL) - HOTEL
After breakfast at 7:00 am at the moraine camp, we begin to descend via the same path we went up until the curve. Here, the transport awaits us for the return transfer to the city of Huaraz and your hotel.

We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.
This reservation will cover the following:
- Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
- Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
- Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
- Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.
The remaining 60% will be paid in Huaraz after you have checked into your hotel. To begin the organization of your expeditions, please contact us for more information.
There are 02 rescue units in Huaraz
- National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
- Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
