Day 01. Huaraz - Queropalca - Carhuacocha

At 2:00 am, we pick you up from your hotels to board our private transport for a 3-hour drive to the first stop, La Unión, for breakfast. We then continue for another 4 hours to Queropalca. Here, the muleteers await with donkeys to start the trek to Carhuacocha camp, featuring beautiful views of mountains: Carnicero (5,960 m), Siula (6,344 m), Yerupaja (6,634 m), and Toro (6,121 m).

Day 02. Carhuacocha (4280 m) - Huayhuash (4350 m)

Breakfast is served very early at 6:00 am. This is the most demanding day of the trek, walking approximately 8 to 9 hours. The trail leads through streams and lagoons to the viewpoint of the three differently colored lakes: Siulacocha, Ganrajanca, and Quesillacocha. About two hours from the viewpoint, we reach the Siula pass (4,800 m), viewing mountains Carnicero, Jurao, and Trapecio. To the east, the León Dormido mountain (5,400 m) in the Raura range is visible. We then descend to the Huayhuash camp.

Day 03. Huayhuash (4,350 m) - Cuyocpampa (4550 m)

Breakfast at 7:00 am to start the hike between the Trapecio and Putscanturpa mountains up to the Trapecio pass (5,030 m). From here, the Azulcocha lagoon and Cuyoc mountain are fully visible, then we descend to Cuyocpampa camp. If weather permits after lunch, you can climb to the San Antonio viewpoint (5,120 m) to enjoy the sunset. Return to camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04. Cuyocpampa (4,550 m) - Huayllapa (3630 m)

Breakfast at 6:00 am to start the trek around 6:30 am and enjoy the morning sun at the Santa Rosa pass (5,080 m). From here, we will have an incredible view of the north face of the Cordillera Huayhuash. After enjoying the view, we descend via Jurao lagoon and the Calinca valley to the Huayllapa village camp. Optional: stay at a guest house to charge batteries, take a warm shower, and use Wi-Fi.

Day 05. Huayllapa (3630 m) - Gashpapampa (4350 m)

Breakfast at 7:00 am, then start a climb of 1,170 m to the Tapush pass (4,800 m). The path is gentle but the ascent is long. Descending from the pass, you can see the Diablo Mudo peak (5,350 m) on the right. In approximately 1 hour, we reach the Gashpapampa camp (Diablo Mudo base camp).

Day 06. Gashpapampa (4350 m) – Huacrish Viewpoint (4800 m) – Huaraz

Final trekking day. Breakfast at 7:00 am, starting with a 30-minute descent followed by an ascent to the Yaucha pass (4,800 m). From the pass, we head to the Huacrish viewpoint for a complete view of the highest peaks of the Huayhuash range and a panorama of Jahuacocha and Solteracocha lakes. Finally, descend to Lirio where transport awaits for the drive through Pacllon district, arriving in Huaraz in about 4.5 hours.

We recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a better price for you. Prices may vary according to the reservation date and the number of people. After we have reached an agreement on the total expedition price for each program we offer, you may book with a 40% deposit of the total agreed sum for the services.

This reservation will cover the following:

  1. Securing your spot for the scheduled date.
  2. Making transfer ticket reservations for Lima - Huaraz / Huaraz - Lima.
  3. Making hotel reservations for the scheduled dates of your arrival in Lima and Huaraz, according to the itinerary.
  4. Making reservations for guides, assistants, and/or staff for the scheduled date.

There are 02 rescue units in Huaraz
  1. National Police Rescue Squadron, based in the city of Yungay (very close to Huascarán mountain). Phone numbers: 043-493292 / 043-493333. They also have 02 helicopters available.
  2. Casa de Guías Rescue Unit, based in the city of Huaraz (Parque Ginebra s/n). The rescue cost must be budgeted beforehand, and if a helicopter is required, it will also be necessary to pay for the service in advance. Website: agmp.pe
